Chemo - Round 2 (now with photo!)

The plan is do do another round of six chemo cycles starting today, and in fact I'm writing from the chair in the clinic. Same routine as before - sit in the chair for most of the day and then go home with a pump that continues to dose the medicine for another 46 hours, then repeat again in two weeks. If all goes according to plan, the 6th and final chemo session will be November 9th.

Because I'm not as strong going into this round of chemo (still recovering from the surgery), the side effects, specifically fatigue, may be stronger, but we'll see.

Away we go - kicking more cancer arse! Note the Honey Badget t-shirt on the chair (our beloved mascot).

  1. Given the great results from the first round of chemo, there won't be much CA at Nov 9th. N.E.D. all the way baby! Joan

  2. I'm so happy we kicked off Phase 3 today - oh yeah!!!!!

Today was the best. It was beautiful, our crazy kids are amazing, we were once again embraced by the wonderful staff at OHSU and our favorite, most amazingly positive and powerful patient was there. Oh, and you didn't get the crap beaten out of you - ha ha - wink!

I love you babe. You ARE crushing this. Today was a great day. xoxo

  3. Phase three, whoop! You have come a LONG way Jimmy! There are still many people asking about you and praying for your health and family. The Calmet's lit many candles for you at Lourdes in France! So remember you are loved always and you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. We are behind you all the way, honey badger attitude and all. love you, Laura

  4. Hey just got caught up! You are strong like bull, like my wife Tracy who also went through the life-giving poison. It does kick arse! Hang in there, during Tracy's treatments we were yukking it up watching South Park re-runs on Hulu. Good therapy; check out the "craime fraiche" episode. Best!

  5. True strength doesn't mean you're impervious. It doesn't mean you don't feel pain, or that you always keep smiling. True strength comes only from One source. God's grace is sufficient. True strength shows through perserverance, through self control, through faith in the One who holds you in the palm of His hand. When we are weak - He is strong.
    Love you brother,
    Helen
